Along these same lines, AlwaysUpward has been blogging about consumer spending. Further than this: “Do you consciously pay more for a luxury item at a brand store than a discount store?”
Yes – 59%
No – 41%"
The question is whether people are willing to pay a little more for quality if it means that it keeps the consumer's money in a local economy... Something to think about! As time is at a premium, are there ways that you consciously alter your spending habits to create opportunities for keeping your money local?

Twas the week before Christmas, when all through the land
Customers flocked to see what Paper Caper had on hand
Childrens' stockings were hung by the chimney with care
In hopes Japanese erasers soon would be there.
The U of O fans were nestled snug in their beds
While visions of green and yellow gifts danced in their heads.
Among all the presents Paper Caper was selling,
People lined up for gift wrap, there was happiness, no yelling!
When from the stock room there arose such a clatter
We sprang to the counter to see what was the matter.
We craned our necks to the left and then right,
Hoping to find the perfect presents that night.
When what to our wondering eyes should appear
But beautifully adorned boxes, with ribbons so dear!
There were books and stuffed animals, ornaments and frames!
There were necklaces and earrings and luggage tags with names!
The Paper Caper has it all, let me be perfectly clear
If you're not yet done shopping you've nothing to fear.
A Christmas Elf visited and had a good laugh;
She selected her gifts and was back on the path.
And while others lined up waiting to get into the mall,
She was done in a flash: she had finished it all!
The stocking stuffers and gift wrap were well on their way;
They'd make happy recipients on Christmas Day…
The little elf's sense of anxiety decreased;
Paper Caper saved her, ordered her panic to cease!
That brings us to today, to just 5 days to go,
It could only be more perfect if Paper Caper sold snow!
It was well worth the visit, for the sadness to end -
worth every penny the Christmas Elf could spend.
Paper Caper continues to show us with beauty we can
have a smooth Christmas day, now here is the plan:
Let's be thankful that small businesses are around
we can purchase gifts without driving all over town
Support our local economy, and be sure to remember
visit Paper Caper before the 24th of December!
